Kataja on monikäyttöinen puu vaikka oven kahvoissa, hyllyissä ja koukiussa.

Juniper can be used in many purposes like door handles, shelves and hooks.

Katajaa kaatui taloa rakentaessa, saatiin naapureilta ja sitä oli tallessa ajalta ennen rauhoitustakin. Pukuhuoneeeen saatiin katajaiset koukut ja hattuhylly. Tuo vasemmalla oleva lähes kokonainen kataja on lähes sillä paikalla, josta se kaadettiin.

Kaakelivalas / the ceramic whale

Aikoinaan tuli 10 asteen pakkasessa sahailtua kaakeleita roiskuvan veden viilentäessä sormia. Olin ostanut pikkuvessan lattiaan sinisiä ja harmaita 2-laadun kaakeleita, joten niitä saattoi hyvällä omallatunnolla vähän pilkkoakin :)

Once upon the time I sawed ceramic tiles outside in a breeze with -10 degrees centigrade. The water of the saw was constantly springing on my fingers. I had bought blue and gray 2-grade tiles so I could cut them into pieces without bothering by consience too much :)

Jouluvalopullot ver. 2 Christmas light bottles

Uudessa valopulloversiossa sähköjohto ei ole näkyvissä ylhäältä pullojen välistä. Sahasin pullojen pohjat pois, joten jouluvalot on lisätty alakautta. Jouluvalokaapeli ei pulloissa uhmaa painovoimaa vaan pullonsuussa on 3:n muotoinen metallilangan pätkä pitämässä kaapelia ylhäällä. Nämä langanpätkät ovat tarkkasilmäisen nähtävillä pullonsuiden päällä.

In the new version of Christmas light bottles the electrical cord is not visible between the mouths of the bottles. I have sawn the bottom of the bottles and the lights have been inserted from below. The lights inside are hanging from a small metal string with the shape of 3. This is at the mouth of the bottle. You might see a bit of these strings on the top of the bottles.

Katajainen kansa ... / A juniper man

Olipa kerran kauan kauan sitten pieni kataja, joka kasvoi aukealla paikalla hyvin symmertiseksi. Mutta tuli paha ja ilkeä metsuri, joka kaatoi katajan. Metsuri vei katajan kotiinsa ja kuori sen. Sitten hän rupesi pilkkomaan sitä, kunnes vain pieni latvahaarukka oli jäljellä. Mies tutki haarukkaa eikä löytänyt sille mitään hyötykäyttöä. Hän vain laittoi sen seinää vasten nojalleen.

Once upon a time there was a small juniper bush, that grew on an open field. It became very symmetrical. But then cam a mean and evil lunberjack that cut the juniper. He took it home and pealed it. He choped it until there was only the top fork left. He examined it and found no use for it. He just put it leaning to the wall.

Kotiteatterin kaapelointi / Cabling of the home teather

There are a lot of cables in a home teather. I decided to hide them. It is also easier to vacuum clean the place so.

Kotiteatterissa on paljon kaapeleita. Päätin piilottaa ne, on sitten helpompi myös imuroida. Käytin muovikouruja osaan, osa meni jo rakennusaikana asentamiini sähköputkiin.














We had noticed that the projector was hot even if it was not on. So I installed a switch for it. 

But when I was in the shop buying the stuff, I noticed that a single switch was 3,90€ and a 3-pack was 5,90€. And the same for sockets too. So I bought enough of them.










Huomasimme, että projektori oli kuuma, vaikka ei ollut päällä. Siis sitä varten tarvittiin kytkin.

Kaupassa yksittäinen kytkin tai pistorasia maksoi 3,90€, mutta kolmen paketti maksoi 5,90€. Ostin siis kolmet kumpaakin.

Kaksi pistorasiaa meni katonrajaan ja yhden laitoin kytkimen alapuolelle sohvan nurkalle vaikka puhelimen latausta varten. Toista katonrajapistorasiaa voi käyttää vaikka jouluvaloille.

Two sockets were installed near the ceiling and the third one below the switch by the couch. It can be used for a mobile phone or computer. The other ceiling socket can be used for Christmas lights e.g.

Note, that the socket and the switch were of different heights. I needed to embed the socket in order to get them to the same level.

Sähkörasia ja kytkin olivat eri korkuisia. Niinpä rasiaa piti upottaa listan paksuuden verran, jotta asennus näyttäisi siistiltä.

Lamps from bottles / Lamppuja pulloista

Originally I tested wine bottles for lamps. I sawed the bottom away with a circular stone saw.

Alunperin testasin lapmuntekoa viinipulloilla. Olin mukana Vanajaveden korukivenhionnassa, ja siellä sahasin kiville tarkoitetulla sirkkelillä pohjan pois.

But the lamp was looking booring, so I took an oldlooking German beer bottle instead.

Mutta lampusta tuli tylsän näköinen, joten tein uuden version vanhannäköisestä saksalaisesta olutpullosta.
